Google Drive Downloads not working in Edge
Before I start with the actual methods, it is recommended to try some basic steps first and check if the issue still persists. For example, you can clear browsing data and cache in Edge, and disable add-ins and see. If that doesn’t work, try the below methods to fix the issue: Now, let’s elaborate on these methods.
1] Turn off “Block Third-Party Cookies”
The reason that you are unable to download Google Drive files can be that Edge is blocking cookies from Google. If so, you would require to disable the Block Third-Party Cookies option in Edge. Try disabling it and then check if you are able to download Google Drive files. Here are the steps to turn off the Block Third-Party Cookies option in Microsoft Edge: Launch Microsoft Edge browser on your PC and then click on the three-dot menu. From the opened menu, click on the Settings option.
Now, in the Settings window, you will see the Cookies and site permissions option in the left sidebar. Tap on it and then click on the Cookies and site data option present at the right.
After that, simply disable the option that says Block third-party cookies.
Reload the Google Drive page and check if the Google Drive download not working problem is gone or not. Read: Google Drive Downloads not working in Microsoft Edge.
2] Add Googleusercontent to Allowed Cookies
Don’t want to disable the block cookies option for all websites? No worries! You can fix the issue by simply adding Googleusercontent to Allowed Cookies. You can follow the below steps for that: Launch Microsoft Edge and go to the Cookies and site data page using the same steps as discussed in method (1). Now, scroll down to the Allow option and click on the Add button present beside it.
Next, in the Site box, type [*.]googleusercontent.com, enable Include third-party cookies on this site option, and then press the Add button.
After setting up the above configuration, refresh the Google Drive page in the Edge browser and then try to download the files that you were unable to download previously. Hope this helps! Now read: Google Drive videos are not playing or showing a blank screen.
